I’m not exaggerating when I tell you there is not a single US wedding that can compare to any Irish one. Holy-nonstop-celebration-drinking-dancing-moly. I flew over to Dublin and drove two hours north west to Mohill to photograph Jackie and Luke’s wedding at the most amazing castle in Ireland. The day started with rain, but the clouds slowly passed and they were left with a rare, sunny, blue sky-ed Irish day- a serious sign that they were about to have an amazing wedding day and marriage.
Now I’d been warned by a couple friends in the wedding party that Irish weddings are insane. As in- the dancing doesn’t start until nearly midnight and most will continue on through the morning. And jeeezus if this wedding wasn’t the perfect example of that. After marrying each other in a cute Irish church, we slowly made our way through the small towns and back to Lough Rynn Castle where the cocktail hour and reception would take place.
After dinner, toasts, and an amazing band took the dance floor, the night made a switch for all the late night guests and a DJ brought the party to the next level. Around 3am, everyone then moved down the the DUNGEON and continued to party on through the rest of the night. I’m so thankful to Jackie and Luke for trusting me as their wedding photographer on such a fun and unforgettable wedding and I REALLY hope to be shooting more Irish weddings in the future.
