Dear Thailand- YOU ARE FREAKIN’ AMAZIN. It was a whirlwind- starting out with a 14 hour flight to Japan, 3 hour layover, then a 7 hour flight to Bangkok. Throw in about 6 ferries, an overnight train, some buses, tuk tuks, truck beds, a motorbike, speed boat, and one big fat elephant and I think we covered just about every form of transportation there is.
There were some loops thrown our way: Kasey missed her first connecting flight to Bangkok and was stuck in Paris, my iPhone is MIA- in the hands of some lucky Thai person on the beaches of Koh Phangan, my Ray Bans are shattered, my debit card got stuck in an ATM at the airport on day 1, the shutter on my Nikon D800 broke (AFTER the wedding I was hired to shoot, thank goodness), and our clothes got drenched during Songkran. And guess what- it doesn’t matter. All that matters is that we had a blast, surrounded by the sweetest, most fun loving people on earth. Thai locals- I love you, your food, your smiles, and your craziness.
Kayaking through the Mangrove Forests, cooking a four course meal with locals, riding elephants through the rivers in Chiang Mai, jetting over to the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan, celebrating the Thai New Year with thousands of locals, cliff jumping in Koh Phi Phi, and snorkeling in the beautiful clear Thai waters- this trip will be one that I will never ever forget and I’m so glad Kasey was by my side through it all.
I shot the entire trip on film (minus the incredible wedding I photographed in Phuket- sharing that one soon!)- and will be getting those scans back and sharing them sometime next week. I can’t wait for you all to see the amazingness that is Thailand!
For now, here’s a little teaser video from my trusty GoPro Hero 4 + some snaps from Kaseys (slash our temporary shared) iPhone!
