If I could ever have a dream couple to photograph- it would be Julie + Shane. First of all- they’re naturals in front of the camera- they’re super lovie (in an aww you’re a movie, I’m obsessed with your love kinda way), they dress awesome, and they’re just overall happy/amazing people! By some crazy small world kind of connection, Julie realized that her, Shane, Natalie, and myself would all be in Queenstown at the same time. These two are currently on a round-the-world trip of a lifetime together (follow them NOW!) and by ANOTHER strange small world happenstance, these two, along with Kasey + I will all be in Chiang Mai in Thailand for Songkran at THE SAME TIME AGAIN! What the heck!
Anyway, Natalie and I were set to meet these two our last full day in Queenstown at sunrise- but when we woke up, it was super grey and rainy. We headed out to Starbucks anyway, and sat around chatting with them for at least an hour, hoping that the sky would slowly clear up. Well- it stayed gross, so we all agreed to ignore the weather and make the most of the amazing lake and mountains surrounding us!
What started out as a shoot around the lake with a light misty drizzle turned into a “screw it, let’s just jump in the water in the pouring rain” kind of shoot. And I LOVED IT TOO MUCH. (And yes, I did swim out to the floating dock with my camera held above my head- I was the QUEEN of shredding water that morning, holy moly). This was easily one of my favorite sessions I’ve ever been able to photograph and I’m so happy that Julie + Shane were so up to get drenched in this New Zealand lake.
I can’t wait to see these two again in just a couple weeks! Until then, take a look at this wanderlustful couple and be sure to leave them some love!
